Alu × Vantage Suit

A restrained gentleman’s look: a long navy coat over a double-breasted suit on a tall base with cool silver-grey hair. We kept the accessories to a minimum so the tailoring and the face carry the look.

Alu 2.02 by ワタリノ (watarino), a tall, slim male base. We removed all of Alu’s own clothes and accessories and left the animal ears, horns and tails off; the face and hairstyle are his own. For shoes we chose Free ShortBoots in the version made for Komano, another tall male base close to Alu’s proportions.

Vantage Suit by Kurake, coat A (worn with the arms through the sleeves). Worn: a long open coat, a navy double-breasted waistcoat, a white shirt, a navy tie with a tie bar, navy trousers and the suit’s own silver watch, plus Free ShortBoots by 竹流.

Left out: the suit’s shoes (the ShortBoots replace them), socks, belt, gloves, bracelet and earring, and coat B, which is draped over the shoulders. A shorter list keeps attention on the tailoring and the face.

We chose navy, one of the seller’s 13 colourways, for a restrained look and a cool contrast with the warm background; the seller’s materials are used as supplied. The white shirt, the silver buttons, tie bar and watch, and Alu’s silver-grey hair add the light notes. His blue eyes and black nails come with the base, and the brown boots with ochre laces are the only warm colour on the figure.

The render background is warm charcoal shading to amber, with soft amber lights.

The version we used was made for Mizuki, a petite female base. Alu is about 1.2 times taller, his shoulders are about 1.85 times wider, and he has a male chest and neck. We re-proportioned the suit as one piece, so the lapels, seams and double-breasted front stay straight. We widened the collar for his neck, lengthened the sleeves and flattened the chest with the outfit’s own shape key (a built-in slider that reshapes part of the model).

We hid the body under the clothes with Alu’s own shape keys. The boots were fitted in a second pass: we switched off the feet inside them and dropped the socks, which cut into the boots. In the views shown, these steps fixed skin poking through, the shirt showing through at the elbows, torn-looking overlaps at the waist and chest, a collapsed collar and trousers passing through the boots.
